Youth Radio

Dear young radio fanatics!
How do people get into the radio and how do they get out? Do you want to find out what happens in that little box that is in a good mood as soon as the day breaks?
Our children’s and youth radio offers a wide range of radio-related activities. We assist you in disentangling the cable clutter and going on the air with your music, your friends and your topics.

You can also lend a recording device or spend a school project day in our studio. Youth Radio is broadcasting every Sunday from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on 98.4 & 99.3 FM! You can also listen to our webstream, right here, on coloradio.org.

If you want to participate at JUNGES RADIO, call us or send us an e-mail. Classes can also spend school project days creating specific programmes, radio plays or other broadcasts. From Mondays to Fridays, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., recording devices can be lent at our office.

We offer one-week radio courses during the winter, summer and autumn holidays. Visit the News page or our Facebook page regularly for upcoming courses.

Dear multipliers and educators!
In March 2006, the “Radioinitiative Dresden e.V.” founded a proper children’s and youth radio programme in Dresden. The JUNGES RADIO offers media educational courses to young people 6 years and older. Children and adolescents gain the opportunity to get to know the medium radio and to autonomously create their own radio features or entire programmes. The JUNGES RADIO broadcasts every Sunday from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on 98.4 & 99.3 FM. You may also follow the livestream right here on our website and via the streamtuner software of your choice.

Why does the JUNGES RADIO exist?
Media play an increasing role in our society. With television and radio turned on almost constantly, their impact on our lives is immense. Especially children and adolescents are exposed to their stimuli without being aware of them. Due to a continuously growing media presence, media education becomes indispensable enabling children and adolescents to critically deal with their environment and to enhance their ability to make their own decisions.

What are the aims of the JUNGES RADIO?
The JUNGES RADIO aims at fostering children’s and adolescents’ ability to actively and self-confidently use media, to activate an awareness of their own environment and the contextualisation of (mostly mediated) social and cultural values.

By participating, young people moreover come into contact with their creative potential. The experience to create “real” radio programmes and to reach other people beyond the immediately perceivable realm furthers their self-confidence.

Children and adolescents learn to be articulate, to address their wishes and to support their opinion in a group, thus enabling them to become aware of and to expand their social skills.
